Beskrivning
Content notes
Vold, bodyhorror og seksuelle undertoner. Høj mulighed for kalibrering.
Spillertype:
40,000 years from now, the spaceship 'Soul's Contempt' is heading home to Terra loaded with thousands of malnourished and desperate ‘psykers’ to be sacrificed in order to ensure humanity's survival. But out in the warp lurk temptations and demons, and soon madness and bloodshed spread throughout the ship.
In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is no plot armor, no mercy, and no showy heroics to save the day.
In this game, each player portrays one of the four high rank individuals on the command bridge of the ship, as well as their respective personnel, as they attempt to navigate the problems arising during the journey to reach Holy Terra with their cargo. The four people in charge have their own agendas for the journey, as well as little trust between them. You will both be giving as well as carrying out orders, as a commanding officer and the poor guardsman clearing out a room full of mutants, all the while getting to tell wicked Warhammer 40k tales.
(You do not get to be a Space Marine saving the day.)
The game uses a simple Top Trumps card mechanic combined with narrative scenes to handle the events of the journey. The reactions of the players, and the decisions made, greatly affect the journey and its outcomes. The player factions are distinct, with different strengths.
Content notes
Violence, bodyhorror and sexual undertones. Can easily be calibrated at table.
Type of participant:
You like fast and intense scenes, where action, conflict and the bonds made amidst the chaos is at main focus. You’re not afraid to play a larger (and expendable) cast from simple descriptions, as well as help your GM and fellow players with making the ship and it’s massive crew come alive. You’re maybe a fan of Warhammer, but definitely into gritty scifi.
Type of game facilitator:
You like to set a variety of scenes in various locations, as well as help players take their action-scenes to the next level. You like to build suspense as you lean into a grim (and at times comedic) setting, where good morals is a rarity. You must keep track of a simple numbers-system, which dictates how some scenes play out.

Vinnare, Bedste Virkemidler – Rollespil
The card-based game mechanic is a brutal and well-oiled machine, ensuring - in appropriately unfair ways - that countless souls must die left and right to keep the black ship flying. The many possibilities for resolution provide ample directions for the narrative to move in, and the blessing cards of the God Emperor are a divine intervention to save your favourite character… for a moment.
Nominerad, Bedste Scenarie
An incredibly ambitious scenario, setting the warp course towards the stars and delivering a grandiose potential in gothic dimensions. The scenario offers a chaotic jumble of both brutal and heartfelt stories, where the individual elements fit together like cogwheels lubricated with holy oil and prayers in binary. An epic and satirical scenario about being a small soul in the Emperor’s magnificent, fascistic clockwork.
Nominerad, Bedste Formidling – Rollespil
A complex challenge of presentation is solved with great didactic ease, such that both the nerd and the newcomer can play along. The engaging narrator takes the reader by the hand as the horrors of the Warhammer 40.000 universe are unfolded. The map ensures that both players and game master always knows where we are on the black ship, and how much is left of the journey to Holy Terra.
Nominerad, Bedste Roller
One character isn’t nearly enough to make a metropolis sized space ship come to life in a brutal and gothic manner. With a whole faction of characters each player is given a nuanced and colourful palette of both crew and passengers. High-tension intrigues and rivalries characterize the leaders on the bridge, while the other characters are appropriately blank slates: After all, they’re just cannon fodder in a world where attaining status is vanishingly unlikely.
