When they came on April 9, we were still grieving my mother. My father told us to keep our heads down, to be the children we had always been, to do our duty, to stay out of the invaders’ way, and wait it out with Denmark. When our months of waiting turned to years of inaction, I started to understand that our world would not change until we changed it. If we were to be the children our mother had wanted us to be, we would have to do things she had never wanted us to do. And so we did.”

Model Protectorates is a historical family drama set in Jutland during the German Occupation of Denmark in World War II. Your characters are members of a close-knit, extended family that will be drawn into the fight for Denmark’s freedom. The experience will change who you are as individuals and how you are together as a family. It will change the way you work with your community, it will challenge your roles in the world, and it will put your lives in danger.

Through rounds of play, you will have the opportunity to see how the family came to fight in the resistance, and you will make choices about how that will change your family forever. You will have your resolve tested and will have to come together to determine how to proceed. When the time comes, you will have to make the ultimate terrible decision – when and if and what you can give up: Your fight, your lives, or the safety of all those you love.
