Captain’s Log, Stardate 7505.7. We have arrived without incident to Starbase 6. The official christening ceremony for Excalibur II will take place tomorrow at 1700 hours, with a reception to follow. The crew is naturally bursting with pride over being assigned to such a fine ship. The occasion is, however, a bittersweet one for the senior staff, most of whom served under Captain Harris, as I myself did for over three years. Starbase 6 was the last port of call for this vessel’s predecessor, and the ceremony will take place five years to the day after her destruction with loss of all hands during the disastrous war games exercise with the M-5 computer.
