Description

“Politique” is a semi-cooperative negotiation game of the complexities of modern politics and of the principles which lays the foundation for democracy and the consequences of.
The path to power is forged by those willing to make sacrifices.
Language is the means to further that path. That is the art of Politics.

Set in the nearer future, in a time where democracies around the world are crumbling, the Party Representatives must cooperate to keep balance in the Nation, under the threat of falling into anarchy or the hands of autocratic powers, whilst seeking to serve their own political purpose.

In “Politique” players take on the roles as the Party Representative of one of eight political Parties, as they seek to acquire as much Influence as possible to become the most powerful Party in the nation, through the use of deduction, diplomacy and calculated determination.

As members of the Parliament, players engage in constant negotiations and debates with the competing Party Representatives over the terms on which Policy to pass and who should acquire the Influence from the Policy Card proposed by the Government. However, some players may benefit more from a policy card than others.

Finally, the Opposition draws a Card from the Headline deck each round. Each card poses a problem which only the Government resolves through a “Prisoner’s dilemma” on the Nation´s behalf – discussing with each other, making a decision, and eventually bidding on whether to cooperate or oppose resolving the Card.

Coalitions may be forged, and sometimes even broken to further the cause – betrayal is inevitable. Players can make agreements at any point in the game but no agreements are necessarily binding. However, everyone in Parliament must tread with caution, as their actions may have an impact on the fate of the Nation.
