Description

I Say a Little Prayer follows the lives of 5 young gay men during the early years of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s. We play out their sexual and romantic adventures as well as the story of how their friendship evolves over the course of several years in a community hard hit by the epidemic. Through “the lottery of death” we find out who of these friends will die before the story is over and how this shapes the lives of the survivors who live on.

_I Say a Little Prayer_ follows the lives of 5 young gay men during the early years of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s. We will play out their sexual and romantic adventures as well as the story of how their friendship evolves over the course of several years in a community hard hit by the epidemic. Through the _lottery of death_ mechanic we find out who of these friends will die before the story is over and how this shapes the lives of the survivors who live on. This is a respectful and intimate LARP for those who enjoy playing stories about many-faceted relationships between people and would like to play out emotional storylines in a fearless way. Players of any gender identity can play the LARP irrespective of all the characters in the LARP being men. Players whose characters die will still be involved with the LARP for the remaining run time through meta-techniques. Characters will be assigned during the pre-LARP workshopping. This LARP uses some meta- techniques, including spotlight and monologue. Players will play out a variety of flashback scenes and monologue about their characters. Players will be given a character background but will develop some of their character's personality, history, and relationships during the LARP. For more about meta-techniques, check out this [https://nordiclarp.org/wiki/Meta-technique](https://nordiclarp.org/wiki/Meta-%0Atechnique) or contact the GMs. **Content Notes** : Only players 18 and over. Contains earnest discussion of HIV/AIDS, human sexuality, and death due to disease. We will play out a funeral. This game includes some amount of non-violent physical contact between character who have close emotional and/or sexual relationships. There is no explicitly sexual touch and the precise amount will be determined by the players during workshopping. This LARP contains discussion/portrayals of: - alcohol and drug use and issues - Past suicide attempt - Depression and mental illness - Open relationships - Drag Please contact the GMs if you have any questions. **I Say a Little Prayer** was written by Tor Kjetil Edland, one of the authors of the multi-day 60 person LARP **Just a Little Lovin'** , to build upon the setting and some of the mechanics developed for the larger game. The first North American run of **Just a Little Lovin'** will happen August 7-12, 2017, near Minneapolis, Minnesota. For more information about the Minnesota run please see: http://jall.us For information about previous runs and writing about the LARP, please see: http://www.justalittlelovin.com/faq/ Do you yearn for a serious Sunday morning game? This one's for you! Please only sign up if you are confident you will be able to make it to game -- it's a small game and we can't afford to have players missing in action.
