A huge burst of energy from Earth, and then the sky was silent, and dark, and cold. Panic followed, and for decades people isolated. Then came the United Alliance of Stars, purporting to unite the tragic few stars left in the Lonely Universe…

But what they brought was not unity, nor peace, but subjugation and conformity. Only you stand against it. The holdouts of Cocoon, the new name of humanity’s cradle. You, the members of the The Ladder, ever climbing towards freedom, have spent too long fighting a defensive war.
