Description

It’s 1982. The silver-grey lunar landscape flashes by the small viewport. The crucial part of Mission 27RX is about to start. The Hawk Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) disengages from the Command and Service module. It breaks orbit and starts its descent towards the Mendeleev crater. The Mission Captain is humming along to Breathe from The Dark Side of the Moon album.

27RX is official a routine rotation mission for the Benedict LCRT (Lunar Crater Radio Telescope) facility. But it’s an Assist and Rescue mission. The Benedict facility has been dark for 6 days, there is no indication of what has gone wrong. NASA has made large promises and needs results. Failure is not an option.
