Description

A relaxing rest in the baths of late republican Rome, during the reign of the dictator Sulla.

All classes meet and mingle in the baths, especially before great events such as the upcoming races. We may have conniving slaves, subtle conspirators, marriageable daughters, skilled charioteers, even visiting barbarians. Attempt to purchase your freedom, arrange a marriage, or avoid being proscribed by Sulla. Or just relax in the Baths and evesdrop on your fellow Romans.

A few period notes here. First, Romans viewed the races with the same calm, dispassionate spirit as Red Sox fans view a World Series. Second, everyone of importance feared being proscribed by Sulla: you could flee Rome before your execution, but your property would be confiscated, leaving not only yourself but your entire family destitute. Third, all males of Senatorial (noble) class were expected to climb the ladder of governmental service in both military and civic service.

History never recorded Sulla's great co-ed bath experiment. Perhaps this game will tell us why.
