Fire on the horizon. A cheerful voice on the radio. The smell of dust, rust, and old lies.
Four in the Dust is a Fallout 2d20 adventure that blends tense survival, investigation, and meaningful moral choices with Fallout’s signature mix of retro-futurism, dark humor, and post-nuclear western atmosphere. The characters awaken in an Arizona marsh after escaping Caesar’s Legion—unarmed, exhausted, and convinced that something inside them is slowly killing them.
A mysterious radio transmission points them toward the border town of Safford, where a friendly doctor promises the only cure. Throughout the journey, Safford Radio 103.3 FM becomes a constant companion. Between timeless 1950s classics, weather reports, local gossip, quirky commercials, and the warm voice of radio host Sunny Mayfield, the station paints a picture of a town struggling to hold on to normality while hiding dangerous secrets beneath the surface.
Four in the Dust focuses on atmosphere, roleplaying, and player-driven choices. Combat is fast, brutal, and used sparingly, while investigation, exploration, and difficult decisions take center stage. The radio soundtrack is woven into the scenario, using iconic Fallout music and live broadcasts to set the pace, build suspense, and occasionally remind players that even at the end of the world, someone is still playing the hits. As the truth slowly unfolds, the players must decide who to trust—because in the wasteland, the deadliest weapon isn’t always a gun, but a convincing lie.
Spillertype: Four in the Dust is for players who enjoy immersive roleplaying, investigation, and making meaningful choices under pressure. Combat is present but limited, so players looking for a combat-heavy dungeon crawl may be disappointed. Instead, expect tense exploration, uncovering a conspiracy, moral dilemmas, and the unique blend of Fallout’s dark humor, retro-futuristic Americana, and post-apocalyptic western atmosphere. Knowledge of the Fallout setting from the games or TV series is a bonus, but not required. The Fallout 2d20 rules will be explained during play, making the scenario suitable for both newcomers and experienced roleplayers.
Spilledertype: Four in the Dust is best suited for Game Masters who enjoy creating atmosphere, portraying memorable NPCs, and balancing tension with Fallout’s signature dry humor. While the scenario has a clear structure, the middle section is player-driven, so the GM should be comfortable improvising conversations and reacting to the players’ choices. The scenario includes a curated soundtrack of classic Fallout songs and a series of pre-written radio broadcasts that help set the mood, deliver world-building, and guide the pacing throughout the adventure. Bringing these broadcasts to life is a central part of the experience, alongside portraying the colorful inhabitants of Safford and gradually revealing the conspiracy at the heart of the story. The fun of running Four in the Dust comes from shifting between tense survival, investigation, memorable NPC interactions, and the unmistakable blend of retro-futurism, black comedy, and post-apocalyptic western that defines Fallout. Knowledge of the Fallout setting is recommended, but no previous experience running Fallout 2d20 is required.
Spiller – beware! (Content Warning): This scenario is recommended for players aged 16+ and contains themes of imprisonment, human experimentation, disease, violence, and moral dilemmas. The scenario is normally run in Danish, but it can be run entirely in English if all players prefer. All handouts, character sheets, and supporting material are available in English. Familiarity with the Fallout setting from the video games or TV series is an advantage, but not required. Likewise, no prior experience with the Fallout 2d20 system is necessary, as the rules will be explained during play. Music and radio broadcasts are an integral part of the experience, helping create Fallout’s distinctive blend of retro-futurism, dark humor, and post-apocalyptic atmosphere.
