Beskrivelse

“The Election” was an experimental Soap-Larp. It centered around the election of a new president for an exclusive golf club. The experiment was to see, if Paulo Coelhos theorem of storytelling could be applied to larp. In essence Coelho stated, that only four archaic storylines exist, which make up most of fictional writing/acting. These are: the love story between 2 and 3 persons, the struggle for power and the hero`s journey.

The players chose their roles before starting the larp, and each role was involved in 2 (sometimes 3) of the 4 story lines.

No other information on behalf of the larp designer was provided.

As a result, the archaic story lines are capable of producing sufficient drama for about 3 hours, but more depth in character development is needed for a longer play-time.

Another issue towards the “storyline-design” arose, as participants would have liked to have a “theme” linked to the specific storyline, to get it more cohesive and interesting.

These will be considered in future larp designs.
