Among sodomites and hermaphrodites is a queer history larp about forbidden love and secret identities in the Swedish army of the early 1700s. The characters all break the norms of their time regarding gender and sexuality, in different ways. We follow the characters during a year of war, love, and relationship conflicts, and finally, returning home to face the choice of how to live their lives.

The larp is made up of several short scenes. Most of these are played in parallel in core groups of three or four people, with some scenes where the entire player group are together.

Players need to be comfortable with:
– playing a character who is currently living as/passes as a man, (although not necessarily being assigned male at birth)
– people playing on fighting in their vicinity
– some play on historical queerphobia
– playing on romance and sexual relationships

Everyone will be able to calibrate their preferred levels of physical closeness with the two or three people in their core group. However, players will probably get the most out of the experience if they are comfortable with some physical play, such as hugging, holding hands etc.

Samuel Sjöberg is a larp designer and archivist from Sweden and has previously written scenarios such as Trans dysphoria blues and The lesbian tangle. He is currently studying a master’s degree programme in history and is specializing in queer history in particular.
