No, we mean really be yourself (disclaimer: curses, beheadings, or other acts of violence constitute a violation of the Terms and Conditions, and will result in immediate ejection from the event, i.e., being thrown overboard). This is a game emphasizing the aesthetic and social sides of LARP, with lots of optional (but encouraged) cosplaying opportunities. The focus will be on small and personal scenes and interactions without too much pressure or conflict. Characters will take on the role of a broad set of mythologically-inspired and fantasy beings, some more guarded about their identities than others, and all looking to make some sort of connection, romantic or otherwise. Different characters will have different goals, some more structured than others, to try to accomplish during the game.

While no characters have assigned genders, many fantasy monsters are historically gendered. To that end, some characters will come with a “suggested gender aesthetic” (while others may exist quite far outside of the traditional binary) but this will be 100% optional, and take into account player surveys.

Also, because of its focus on introductions and character interactions, this game may provide less deep plot and secrets that some players may expect from a full-length game.

Note: We ran a portion of this game at both Extracon 2021 and Summer Larpin’ 2021 as “Speed Dating for Monsters” and submitted to Intercon U 2022 as “Fantasy Singles Cruise”. This game is completely replayable both as the same or as a new character, and some of the content will be changed from previous playthroughs.

--- Monster 4 Monster is a speed-dating-lite LARP focused on building connections, with lots of optional (but encouraged) costuming opportunities. The primary focus is on one-on-one and small-group interactions suitable to a singles cruise, with a secondary (optional) plot involving averting a world-ending disaster.

Players will take on the role of a broad set of mythologically-inspired and fantasy beings, some more guarded about their identities than others. *Everyone* is looking to make some sort of connection, whether romatic, platonic, business-driven, or somehting else entirely. Different characters will have different goals, with some more structured than others, to try to accomplish during the game.

The game also includes a few NPC slots, for anyone who may who want to help run cruise ship activities in character without pursuing goals of their own.

To that end, some characters will come with a "suggested gender aesthetic" (while others may exist quite far outside of the traditional binary) but this will be 100% optional, and take into account player surveys. Character orientations/preferences are left up to the player (humorous suggestions for orientation are offered for each character, but have no actual meaning). Some character backstories involve prior romantic or sexual realationships, while other character backstories suggest a character might have limited interest in romance or sex.

**Replay Potential:** We ran a portion of this game at both Extracon 2021 (virtually), Summer Larpin’ 2021 (virtually), and Dice Bubble 2022 (IRL) as “Speed Dating for Monsters”, and ran the full game at Summer Larpin' 2022 as "Monster 4 Monster". If you've played the short/discord version before, we encourage you to come play again as the same or a different character, as significantly new content has been introduced. If you've played the in-person version we invite you to play again as a different character, with the warning that some portions of the game may be spoiled by previous play-throughs.

**Mask Policy:** At present, this game is masks-optional-but-encouraged. We expect to make a final verdict closer to game time (around when we send out characters) but, depending on the state of covid in 2022, masks *may* be required for this game.
