Circle is a psychological American-style freeform LARP inspired by the 2015 movie[^1] of the same name. The game is about the nature of humanity in life-or-death circumstances and transition to the unknown. Twelve people are trapped together in a mysterious and deadly room, and they must make choices if they want to prolong their chances for survival. The purpose of Circle is to explore the nature of human connection under threat by direct competition for survival, and what cost to our own humanity we are willing to pay for it.

This is a 2-hour workshopped LARP. Players will spend the first part of run time (~30 minutes) developing discrete characteristics for their characters. What are their tastes, their desires? What are their secrets? Their deepest fears? What are they willing to let go of first when they find themselves losing their humanity piece by piece? Perhaps more importantly, what will they hold onto until the bitter end?

The goal is not to "win." Every character will experience death before the end of the game. The focus is on human interaction and communication. There will be both creative and destructive elements.

**Note**: This is intended to be a psychological journey through darkness to the unknown. Some players will die early in the game, and the stakes are high. However, we promise that death does not end your game experience. Indeed, for some it is the very beginning. We hope you leave this experience as something more than you were when you arrived.

[^1]: Knowledge of the movie is not necessary to play, nor will having seen the movie “spoil” anything. Likewise, playing this game will not spoil the movie for you. This game is a reimagining and significantly departs from the source material. If you want to be completely surprised in every way, don't watch the movie.
