Description
An experimental edu-larp designed for accessibility and inclusion
In the Mystery on the Fable Express, players board a train inhabited by anthropomorphic animals to solve a mystery while encountering challenges inspired by neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF). Designed to be accessible for both roleplayers and newcomers, the game introduces mechanics that simulate sensory overload, communication barriers, and cognitive obstacles. Through role-play and environmental interactions, the designers hope that participants gain a hands-on understanding of neurodivergent perspectives. They want to explore how larp can be used as a tool for inclusion and accessibility.
Murder on the Fable Express is part of Not on the Spectrum, a project by Teater Sörmland funded by the Swedish Postcode Foundation to explore neurodiversity through edu-larp. The larp was initiated by Cecilia Dolk, an experienced larper and larp producer who now works at Teater Sörmland. Together with her colleagues, she explores the intersection between larp, theatre, and escape rooms to create immersive storytelling experiences. Teater Sörmland focuses on themes such as mental health, identity, and societal change, using interactive and participatory narratives to engage audiences.
