Description

This discord has ghosts in it is a game of entering and exploring a haunted house filled with ghosts, or of haunting that house being explored. Horrors will be uncovered and ghosts will be freed to move on. In this game, players are either investigators or ghosts, each with a very different way of interacting.

Players of Ghosts will haunt the house. You will interact with the game and investigators by writing text descriptions, posting pictures, links to sounds, creating new rooms in the labyrinth of a house and generally narrating the horror. (you won’t speak out loud, but will listen to the investigators) As you play, you will be using these tools to tell your story, and help the investigator’s understand you. You will try to learn the investigators frights and use them, and eventually have a decision if you want to move on. Players who like creating spooky stories and descriptions, or who like guiding others to learn their story would likely enjoy this role.

Players of Investigators will explore the house, speaking via “walkie talkies” in a voice channel as you describe to the other investigators what you see and do. As you play, you will be trying to understand the ghosts, who they are, and what has them trapped, all while being spooked by the horror and exploring an ever expanding house. Eventually you will try to give them the option to be released. Players who would like to be immersed into the horrors of the house and learning stories of the ghosts would likely enjoy this role.

The tone of the game is earnestly engaging with the concept, not humorous play.

Content Notes: Due to the nature of the game, there will be times when multiple people are speaking at the same time, and the conversation is rapidly changing context. Notice for general horror topics, though players will be given the option to veto specific player generated content.

How this larp will run virtually
This game will run on a discord server using voice and text channels. Attending using a computer is recommended. Players will need a quiet space to play with suitable internet connection. Rules and server invite provided shortly after signup. Rules/instructions are approximately 2 pages and players expected to read them in advance. Characters are not prewritten, as players will come up with the details of their ghosts or investigators at the game.
