You don’t take a job on a questionably legal mining claim on the outskirts of the Empire if your life has gone according to plan. Still, it wasn’t so bad until winter rolled in with a vengeance. Even the first few nights were manageable, right up until the blizzard struck. Now the nights are long, the camp is long since snowed in, the wind carries the hungry voices of wolves and worse and supplies are running dangerously low. People are hungry. People are scared. And as we all know, hunger and terror will do strange things to a man.
