Description
♥ Finding you the guy you deserve ♥
An queer online larp about finding your Forever Match, inspired by Black Mirror and The Lobster.
This time, we're focusing on male-identifying characters!
It is 2060 and you're the second generation of people entering the dating market in a world where social distancing is the norm – after all, it is the only solution to the ubiquitous infection which started in 2020. Fortunately, the supercomputers of the Department of Marriage are here to help you find your perfect partner from the safety of your own home.
All characters in this run will be male-identifying, whether cis or trans, and all matches will be between male-identifying characters -- otherwise, the design will be identical to Together Forever. Because the regular runs have had mostly female-identifying or non-binary players signing up, the opportunities for relationships between male-identifying characters have been scarce. This is not intended to be exclusionary (players of any gender are welcome to sign up) but rather to offer an opportunity which has not been possible in previous runs for people who would like to play this kind of romance.
There will be one run on 10-11 April or 17-18 April or 1-2 May 2021 (depending on players' preferences during sign-up)
Sign-up: closes Wednesday, 3rd March, 23:59 BST
The larp's safety approach is to provide a brave space where participants feel supported and confident in exploring their emotions. We emphasise player agency: there will be a single safeword, "offgame", which can be used for all purposes. Players will be encouraged to negotiate relationships as necessary before playing them, and it is always encouraged to go offgame for discussion when the need arises.
While the larp is supposed to have psychologically realistic characters and to be quite emotional, it's not intended as "misery porn". There will be no sexual abuse (or torture -- it's not that kind of dystopia!) in the character backgrounds, and any other heavy themes are opt-in. These might include: domestic abuse, bullying, harassment, bereavement, mental or physical illness, alcohol or drug abuse, religion. If you list any of these or other themes in the "themes to avoid" section of the sign-up form, we will not put them in your character sheet.
Also note that homophobia is not a theme of the larp. However, we don't want to err on the side of erasure, so if you want you can introduce some mild elements of dealing with homophobia into your character backstory (e.g. volunteering for an online charity helping queer people in less developed countries, or having a conservative grandma who would prefer you found a girlfriend) -- nothing on the level of having undergone conversion therapy though! And of course, none of the characters should be homophobic himself. If you would not like to be exposed to any homophobia in the backstories of your relationships, you can let us know in your sign-up form and we will make sure to match you accordingly. The setting of the larp has very little homophobia, if any -- imagine the current western world becoming 40 years worth more progressive.
