Bad Things Come In Threes

Participants: 1 GM, 4 players

Description

Once a venerable institution, Coswegotch University had fallen out of favor among the elite and wealthy of upstate New York but this has begun to change recently. New professors have been attracted, additional courses of study have been added and large investments were being made to expand the campus that had many thinking that Coswegotch would soon be competing with the more known universities such as Harvard, Yale and Miskatonic.

Maybe that is why you have felt on edge lately. With all the growth and optimism about the university’s future, the recent mishaps seem all the more out of place and ominous. It was just over six weeks ago that the Robson Postal Center nearly burned down. Luckily, it was in the middle of the night, and no one was hurt but a lot of correspondences and packages were lost and, being one of the oldest buildings on campus, a bit of history as well. That loss paled in comparison to the news of Professor Gellman’s passing. A fixture of Coswegotch for over forty years, the Director of the Whitmore Museum and Research Center was respected and liked by all. Being his friend, you had been happy to hear him announce his retirement some months back, a milestone he would no longer reach. You had once heard someone say that that bad luck always came in threes, a phrase that came to mind as you dressed in you most somber clothing to attend his wake this morning. Taking a quick look in the mirror to make sure all was proper before heading out you absently wondered what more could befall the university, not thinking much of the involuntary shudder that rippled down you back. As you walked to the campus chapel this fine spring day you had no way of knowing that soon your eyes would be opened to a terrible reality. One that any sane person would beg to forget. You had no way of knowing that paying your respects to your friend would be the first step on a path which led to madness.

This is a Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition scenario set in the 1920s, pregen investigators will be provided.
