Description

It's World Book Night at Casterham branch library, and there's a gala party. Locals and dignitaries are celebrating the joy of reading: although some are uneasily aware that the future of the library itself hangs in the balance.
Meanwhile, in the fabled Booklands, beloved characters have been weakening, thinning, even dissipating out of existence. What's causing this curse? And why does stopping it depend upon the events of tonight in one small, impoverished branch library?
Each player plays a staff member or visitor at the library, in today's modern (fairly) realistic world. They will be in costume as a character from fiction, because today is World Book Night. At various points during the larp, their consciousness will be taken over by that fictional character who is on a mission to save the Booklands (the mystical plane where such people live) from extinction. The plight of the Booklands, and the library which is itself under threat of closure, are linked but can the characters, and the people, puzzle out how, and why, in time to save the chance of a happy ending?

Players will be given a predesigned real-world character, but they will choose themselves (in advance of the larp) which fictional character that character will be costumed as; you will also have to 'play as' that fictional character, during the parts where it's taken over the mind of the main character. We will help you with this in an interactive process once casting has taken place.
