Description
The year is 2034. A referendum vote on the island of Notland creates an independent, federal republic of regions. With no government structures in place, a randomly selected group is put in charge to represent the island’s regions, forming the Lottery Council of Notland. This government-by-lottery, or sociocracy, creates the opportunity for players to build the society of their dreams, allowing them to be at the centre of political world-building for the next generation. Players will experience challenges to their utopian vision through conflicting desires and environmental factors affecting societies of the future.
The larp will be played on Discord, through a combination of video calls and text. Players should have access to a computer, camera and microphone (in- built is sufficient) for the duration of the play. The identity of the setting and character creation will take place in the pre-larp workshop. The whole experience including workshop and debrief is expected to last around 4 hours, this includes adequate screen breaks. It would suit new players as well as more experienced larpers from across the political spectrum, providing they have an interest in political ideas.
Limited preparation required, the Player Guide will give details of the setting but this is optional to read beforehand. Character and further setting creation takes place in the pre-larp workshop. There are no costuming requirements and we will take sufficient breaks throughout the play. Political.
For some of the game, characters will play all together; at other times, they will be in smaller groups.
