Bad Omens

RPG system: LARP
Participants: 1 GM, 6 players, 0-2 NPCs

Description

Three angels and three demons meet. The trumpet has sounded and the end of the world is nigh. It is time to combine the Four Keys, two divine and two damned, and decide on the particulars for the apocalypse.

Except. Apocalypse. Apooocalypse. It sounds so… boringbadoverreaction? Really, do we need it? Don’t give me that look Master Archdemon, Sire, smell that smell, look at those colors, do you really… Oh. Oh. Okok. Well. So. About that itsy bitsy key…

Bad Omens is a “walking larp in nordic style”, inspired by Milton’s “Paradise Lost” (esp book I and II), Mike Carey’s “Lucifer”, Gaiman & Pratchett’s “Good Omens”, The Prophecy (3 movies), CS Lewis’ “Screwtape Letters”, and “The Bible”.

Players will get two page character sheets with some predetermined connections and motivations. At game time, the first hour will be spent in a workshop helping to establish some worldbuilding around their characters. The larp itself will last around two hours, with players moving around in the virtual space to talk with one another.

Players can expect to be cast as an angel or demon, figuring out what to do about this whole Apocalypse thing. NPCs will be Very Cryptic Holy Spirits, wandering gamespace touting not-so-helpful bible quotes, while also assisting the GM in any technical issues that may arise. The game is fairly lighthearted.

Note that though the Christian-ish belief system in this game is strict on the seven sins and the ten commandments, it is also strictly anti-rasist, pro-feminist, and pro-lgbtqia+.
