Strange rumours are circulating about a terrible curse which has befallen an archaeological dig in Egypt. People mutter darkly about the dead rising from their graves to avenge themselves on those who dare to disturb their eternal slumber.

It all sounds like something from one of Diana's penny dreadfuls.

But when Amelia Edwards, patron of the dig, contacts the Athena Club and asks them to make discrete inquiries Mary and the others are forced to reconsider.
