Description

Hazards of Love is a short parlor game for nine people that explores the themes and characters popularized by the modern alt-folk band The Decemberists. Somewhat like a secrets and powers game, players focus on uncovering character flaws and discovering new paths forward.

_Bring out your weeping weeds_

In Hazards of Love players will take on the roles of folk heroes, mythical beings, and modern-day hipsters trapped in the Liminal Interlude trying to discover their way home. Familiarity with The Decemberists catalogue is not required, nor is singing during gameplay.

_It was a perfect, a perfect, a perfect, a perfect crime_

The main themes of Hazards of Love include fate, reality, loss, and love. Backstories and plots will include content from The Decemberists' songs and include topics such as: strong sexual themes, murder, suicide, and self-harm. The casting questionnaire will allow players to opt out of specific content for their own character.

_With all the grains of Babylon_

If you enjoy folk tales, collaborative discoveries, or ever wanted to be involved with bandits, fools, and vagabonds, this LARP is for you!

_The Hazards of Love_

We will send out the questionnaire in December (no pun intended) and players will be given two or three specific songs to listen to prior to the game based on their casting. Full 2-3 page character sheets will be sent out by the end of January.
