Description
The survivors of a terrible plane crash awaken on a deserted island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Amongst the washed up luggage and plane debris are strange rumors: magical beings, lost civilizations, and... aliens?
This island may not be as deserted as it seems.
(...No, this is not a LARP about Lost.)
**What I Did On My Summer Vacation** is a secrets and powers LARP inspired by *The Final Voyage of the Mary Celeste* the classic SIL West catch phrase, "Something Strange Is Going On". What this means is that each player can count on being involved in some fantasy, supernatural, or sci-fi plot even if the setting doesn't appear to include those elements at the start of game. Players can expect these plots and secrets to come to light as conversations occur, abilities are used, and the setting is explored. Characters may have contingency envelopes which will provide more information as events occur in game. There will be a GM guided combat mechanic resolved by dice rolls and combat scores if players decide to get into a fight. Players can expect an exciting finale which may go wonderfully or terribly depending on player actions.
The tone of the game is driven by the players but is generally on the darker side. Players don't tend to dwell on the trauma of the plane crash for long as the larp encourages them to explore and uncover plots, but roleplay decisions are ultimately left up to them. The plots that are uncovered generally also tend toward the darker side. Additionally, there is the potential for a disasterous outcome, but the larp is designed for this to be rare.
Note: This larp includes a fantasy tribal society, though effort was made to avoid harmful stereotypes in writing it. Also, there will be a few puzzles in the game, but nothing that should get in the way of roleplay.
