Dueling Death Cards

Description

I challenge you to a children's card game!

The weak have lost. The wise have fled. Only the brave, the foolish, and the champions remain. This is no ordinary game—this is Dueling Death Cards, the wildly popular and controversial card game banned in 17 countries for its uncanny ties to several thousand deaths worldwide and the mysterious disappearance of the Eiffel Tower. For one day only, Providence RI is hosting the largest, and most dangerous, children's card game tournament the world has ever seen...and you're a competitor!

The stakes: your reputation, your health, and maybe your soul.
The rewards: millions of dollars in sponsorship opportunities, and maybe... much, much more.

Dueling Death Cards is a LARP built around a simple CCG (collectible card game minigame) that is easy to learn, but hard to master (we playtested it on children), with a plot based heavily on anime tropes.

Notes:
* DDC features both standard theater LARP plots and also a card game tournament. Premade characters will be assigned based on whether players are only interested in social/intrigue plots or also want to collect/play with cards (not everyone is trying to become the king of card games)
* The characters and setting are bizarre enough that pretty much any sort of costuming should be appropriate for this game. Yes, *any* (but keep it kid-friendly). Professional card game tournaments are *odd*
* The primary influence for this game was Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Series, but we also drew heavily from the lore and style of competitive MTG, various animes, and professional gaming competitions
* By default, we have kept all duelists gender-neutral, though there should be space on nametags for players to assign their characters a preferred gender if they want
