Description
Welcome to the annual tea social of the Camellia Trading Company. Today’s formal gathering will introduce you to the many agents of our esteemed enterprise. Per tradition, following our round-robin meet-and-greet and social hour--YOU ARE RECEIVING A MESSAGE FROM CTC, YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A NEW TARGET. DETAILS TO FOLLOW--variety of tea and unforgettable company will be enjoyed by all.
The Assassin’s Teapot is a game of assassin where wit, improvisation and impeccable etiquette are as deadly as poison. As in the normal game of assassin, participants are assigned a target to kill; in the Assassin's Teapot, however, players are assassins given the option to kill or make alliances among a society of assassins. Each player will be given the skeleton of their character—their essence as embodied in their alias, based on the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, and cues toward their interests—and will expand them while improvising through game play. This is a structured game in three acts; kills will occur only in the third act, keeping conversation core and key. Assassinations and some out-of-character negotiation will occur using tea-based mechanics. And, unlike a traditional game of assassin, it will be more fun to die than to win.
The Assassin's Teapot takes place in an awakened modern day with retro-espionage aesthetics. An Edith Head gown, à la Hitchcock's film Notorious, is as welcome as a bulletproof John Wick suit. Inspirations for this game include John Wick, Hannibal, and Ian Fleming’s James Bond series.
While we cannot claim to provide a full afternoon tea service, the game will be as true to life as possible. Take that as you will and tell us your allergies.
