Description

It's September of 1929, and here in Los Angeles the Roaring Twenties are in full swing. Hollywood is abuzz with excitement over the release of the first "talkies," while organized crime flourishes in the seedier parts of town, despite the best efforts of the upstanding Mayor Drinkwater. Prosperity is soaring, short dresses and zoot suits are in style, and the Great War of the previous decade is but a fading memory. All things considered, it's a great time to be alive, and there's no end in sight.

A multitude of speakeasies have popped up thanks to the Prohibition of alcohol, but none is more legendary than The Fourth Leaf. Tucked away in the back rooms of The Clover Cabaret, it is the venue of choice for Hollywood's rich and famous. Tonight is no exception: The Fourth Leaf is hosting a party to celebrate the success of a new talkie starring America's sweethearts, Harry Gray and Rita Sawyer. (Yes, that's right, _the_ Rita Sawyer will be there!) The party guests first enjoyed dinner and a show in the main section of the cabaret before being ushered into The Fourth Leaf, where the _real_ party is about to begin.

Murder at the Fourth Leaf is a low-mechanics, high-shtick party game set in 1920s Hollywood. The emphasis is on having fun and getting into character; accordingly, players whose characters are murdered will have the option of returning as a new, low-plot, high-shtick character so they can continue to enjoy the party. If more than the minimum number of players sign up, some of them will start out playing such characters.

[NB: This game is intended for mature (18+) players. I don't expect anything to be terribly offensive, but do be warned that there are a variety of romance plots (both hetero- and homosexual) and some character backstories that involve prostitution. Oh, and there might be some murder, too.]
