Four acts in the theater. Help write the acts, so it fits with your plans. Plan your program, make sure you are at the right place at the right time, and steal the spotlight from the lesser actors. At the end of the show only one actor will be applauded.

Ingen sagde engang ‘Teater er krig’. Men det er det nu. I ‘Break a Leg’ er I skuespillere, der spiller et teaterstykke – som om I var gladiatorer. I skal følge manuskriptet, men jeres virkelige mål er at udmanøvrere de andre skuespillere, komme i rampelyset og modtage alle klapsalverne.

Det er den sidste aften, før tæppet falder for sidste gang på det gamle Theatre Magnifico. Alle skuespillerne håber at være den, der bliver husket som scenens strålende stjerne, og alle kneb gælder. Du kan skubbe de andre skuespillere, tage deres rekvisitter og lade tæppet falde, bare for at få dem til at se ud som håbløse statister, overskygget af dit talent og din udstråling. ‘Break a Leg’ (‘Knæk og bræk’) er normalt en ironisk vending for at ønske en skuespiller held og lykke, men nu kan den ironi også være ironisk.

‘Break a Leg’ er et kort spil på ½-1 time for 3-4 spillere. Til Fastaval vil manuskriptet til stykket blive skrevet på forhånd, men I har hver især en håndfuld kort med handlinger som Flyt, Skub og Stjæl, for at udføre jeres rænker på scenen. Alle kender manuskriptet og jeres rolle, men ved at gøre det uventede kan du måske stjæle rampelyset og få de bedste anmeldelser.

Det er lidt som et let skirmish-baseret krigsspil eller et værtshusslagsmål, men spillet med bananer og rådne tomater.

Noone once said “Theater is war”. But now it is. In “Break a Leg” you are actors, playing a stage play - like you were gladiators. You have to follow the manuscript, but your real goal is to outmaneuver the other actors, get in the spotlight and receive all the applause.

It’s the last night before the final curtain falls on the old Theatre Magnifico. All the actors hope to be the one who is remembered as the glowing star of the stage and every trick in the book goes. You can push the other actors, take their props and draw the curtains, just to make them look like hapless extras, overshadowed by your talent and radiance. “Break a Leg” is normally an ironic saying to wish a performer good luck, but now that irony might be ironic too.

“Break a Leg” is a short ½-1 hour game for 3-4 players. For Fastaval, the script for the play will be written in advance, but you each have a handful of cards with actions like Move, Push and Steal, to improvise your antics on the stage. Everybody knows the script and your role, but by doing the unexpected you might just be able to steal the spotlight and get the best reviews.

It’s a bit like a light skirmish-based wargame or barroom brawl, but played with bananas and rotten tomatoes.
