Beskrivning
What moments in your life will you choose to cherish and remember? What would you prefer to forget?
Set in the years between 1958 - 2003, come join the five, ten, thirty, and fifty year high school reunions in rural Tennessee, and experience a whole bittersweet lifetime in two hours.
_Cumberland County High School Reunion_ first ran to high acclaim as a part of mini-convention Intercon.Jz that occurred during Intercon J. It uses a simple mechanic that lets players prioritize what life events are important to them as they experience an entire lifetime in a small Southern community. No other mechanics are in the game.
About 20 minutes will be taken at the beginning of the game to introduce how the game will flow, and to have players act out brief scenes before play officially begins.
This is not meant to be a strictly happy or sad game, nor is it a carousel of trauma intended to invoke intense feelings through constant triggers; like most people, characters experience both joy and sorrow in their life, and while most are more inclined towards one or the other, you will not lack for variety. That said, some content warnings are in order.
**CONTENT WARNINGS:**
Violence.
Alcoholism.
Death of a child. (occurs offscreen)
Possibility of homophobic or sexist slurs.
Possibility of sudden loud noise. (once only)
There are some situations which some players may choose to have their characters perceive as sexual assault; they are not written as violent, although consenting players are welcome to interpret them as such.
Some players may choose to interpret certain relationships as abusive and are welcome to play appropriately with the consent of all involved.
Country music.
Characters are strictly gendered, and many of them will be dealing with strictly-gendered elements of their lives, but players are not at all required to match the gender of their characters! Please refer to [the Signup FAQ](http://interactiveliterature.org/Q/Static.php?page=signup) to see how to change your gender for a single game sign-up.
All characters are written as white, but players of different backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to inject and interpret their experiences into the characters; it will be up to the player to determine how much this will alter events as they are written.
All characters are written as cisgendered. Given the setting, it is outside the scope of this game to deal properly with the trans experience, particularly without risking it turning into a re-enactment of "Boys Don't Cry." However, many other games I've had a hand in engage this on many levels, and many other fine writers and designers have done so as well; I encourage you to seek them out, and apologize for the inability to be more accommodating here.
This LARP is suitable for players ages 16 and up; players under 16 are permitted with parental permission.

Cumberland County High School Reunion first ran to high acclaim as a part of mini-convention Intercon.Jz that occurred during Intercon J. Mostly focused on immersive and emotional roleplay, it uses a simple mechanic to have players prioritize what events are most significant to them as they experience an entire lifetime in a small Southern community. No other mechanics are in the game.
About 20 minutes will be taken at the beginning of the game to introduce how the game will flow, and to have players act out brief scenes before play formally begins.
This is not meant to be a strictly happy or sad game, nor is it a carousel of trauma intended to invoke intense feelings through constant trigger situations; like most people, characters experience both joy and sorrow in their life, and while most are more inclined towards one or the other, you will not lack for emotional variety.
**Content Warnings (out of play):** Partner violence, alcoholism, war trauma, death of a child/spouse , trauma from sexual assault, emotional abuse, preparing for spouse’s or one’s own mortality, caring for a child with special needs.
**Content Warnings (during play):** Possibility of homophobic or sexist slurs, sudden loud noise (once only), country music.
**Capability Considerations:** This game will require some reading during set periods after play begins. Everyone will be reading at the same time, and play will not resume until everyone is ready and feels comfortable.
**Context for potentially challenging elements:**
- Only two characters deal with explicit trauma, one violent and the other sexual. Other characters who have negative experiences are written with player flexibility in mind to choose the intensity of their interpretation, so you can play at your level of comfort. - Characters are strictly gendered, and many of them will be dealing with strictly-gendered elements of their lives, but players are not at all required to match the gender of their characters! [Please refer to the Signup FAQ](%E2%80%9Dhttp://interactiveliterature.org/R/Static.php?) to see how to change your gender for a single sign-up. - All characters are written as white, but players of different backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to inject and interpret their experiences into the characters; it will be up to the player to determine how much this will alter events as they are written. - If an under-18 attendee is interested, guardian permission is required, and this game will likely not be a good fit for those under 16.
