Byrne's Bane, a small island community off the coast of the Barony of Capulus, in the Duchy of Ravenholt, has seen its fair share of troubles in recent years. Last winter, a band of mercenaries and thieves swept through town, enslaving its few remaining residents and killing local militia. A sea captain who had brought considerable trade to the small village was robbed and murdered. His ship was taken when these vile mercenaries instigated a mutiny on the ship. Since then, the town has struggled to get by...and now, they say, the Captain's ghost haunts them in the night. Small children hide in fear when Cap'n Razzor's name is spoken. Animals disappear in the night. Now more townsfolk have begun to go missing and some say they, too, wander the night with the undead Captain.

The local guild hall, woefully understaffed, is hiring mages of all sorts to help protect and heal the town's dwindling population. Adventurers and those interested in relocating to an otherwise small and peaceful ocean community are encouraged to make their way to the island. Though no one will confirm it, there are tales that the Cap'n was once a pirate, and he may have hidden some of his vast wealth somewhere near Byrne's Bane.

* * * This adventure takes place on the world of Tyrra, home to the **_NERO(tm) International Game System_**. It is a **high fantasy boffer LARP** using a simplified version of the NERO rules. You will be allowed to create your own character, be it fighter, scholar, templar, or rogue, selecting from a set of skills that will introduce you to the larger game system. Should you decide to join one of the more than 30 NERO chapters, you will receive credit towards your initial player character for your time and experience here.
