All of you have witnessed the horrors of the authority after they took power. You have seen pain and you all have personally witnessed deaths, seen people disappear and seen the after effect of the torture that the government has inflicted. Maybe some of you were tortured. Maybe you lost friends or loved ones.

So you began to form a resistance group. Quietly and subtly at first; and then as you found each other you began to make bolder moves. Newsletters, stories, graffiti, memorials for the dead. You became like a family.

You got caught.

In a prison cell together you were offered a deal. If one person confesses to being the leader of the resistance movement, that person will die at dawn. The rest of you will go free. Back to your children. Back to your lives. Back to continue the fight. Only one person needs to die. If more than one person confesses, or if no-one confesses, you will all die.You have one hour to decide what to do.

A character creation workshop and world building will last up to an hour. The gameplay will take between 1 and 2 hours depending on the number of players.

There will be a possibility that the sound of gunfire will be used in this game.

There will be possible themes of gender dysphoria, and pregnancy, although no one will be obliged to play these characters. There will also be references to torture. If any of these themes may be a potential trigger please feel free to get in touch and the GM will ensure that the game is safe for you to play.

Burning Orchid is an immense blockbuster, detailing the passionate heart of a claustrophobic forbidden love story set in the jungle villages of Guatemala against a background of a country riven by political turmoil.. and that’s just the movie! Glamorous cast, intense emotions, a steamy situation, secrets past and present – who knows what might happen. Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Character sheets and background will be about 6 pages long. 1930s costuming suitable for an evening event is encouraged for atmosphere.

This game is very much character focused rather than event focused, with roleplaying being the focus rather than problem solving or politicking.

The theme is intensely emotional, centering on romance. It is not suitable for under-18s. Players need to be willing to play characters in romantic situations and with various sexualities, as all characters have romance.

The game deals with adult themes like illegitimacy, and sexual orientation. Character backgrounds may include references to murder, war trauma, romantic liaisons with disastrous consequences (e.g unwanted children or miscarriage) and prostitution. One of the characters is a Catholic priest. We strongly recommend you consider how these issues might affect you before signing up for the game.

This game uses some simple sound effects. If the constant chirp of crickets, or sudden loud noises are a problem for you let us know.

Costume (optional): Costume not necessary, but 1930s costuming suitable for an evening event may improve the atmosphere.
