Written in the stars is a historical roleplaying game about the treatment of alchemists, astrologers and witches. The players take turn playing the central character, while also having their own character involved in the situation that they play when not playing the central one. The situation is a conflict between the central character and the wider society. The game does not have a traditional game master.

On a fine day in the 1470s, in a small village outside Canterbury, a woman had washed her bed linens and hung them out to dry. To her dismay, the linens disappeared. This was a serious loss, since ordinary people owned very few possessions compared to today, and replacing the linens would be difficult.

The woman turned to the village priest for help, and the priest promised to use magical powers to recover the stolen linens.

During the following week, the villagers heard that the priest possessed the ability to summon the spirits of the dead and ask them questions. On Sunday, the priest took with him the leftover elements from the church service and announced that he would use them to perform a spell that would reveal the thief.

What happened to the woman's linens? Did the spell truly expose the culprit? What do the villagers think of their sorcery-practicing priest? And what will become of the priest when his ecclesiastical superiors learn of his use of magical methods?

At the moment Midgardcon seeks games, Tähtiin kirjoitettu has only been published in Finnish. The English translation should be completed in the summer. The game is a part of the Tieteen ja taikuuden rajamailla -project funded by Koneen säätiö.
