We were contemplating the idea of how to play LARP in accordance with nordic LARP principles and how to create something new and unique apart from the old concept of fantasy LARP.

We found the concept of a Soap Opera interesting, with all the emotion, drama and overacting; so we gave it a shot. Our first Soap Opera inspired LARP revolved around love, intrigue, shocking revealations, and of course a cliffhanger right at the end.

Although with still many problems to be fixed in later LARPs, it showed the participants, that for a immersive and intense story to develop you need neither spectacular costumes, evil monsters, magicians nor point-dependent fight rules.

It also showed that in a good LARP, every character is the main role; the need for “non-player-characters” was abolished.
