Foromtale

Synopsis: Life is eternal – just as long as you don’t leave The Chamber. 13 people are gathered together in The Chamber – a place (it might be a bar, a hotel room, an apartment, or any other location) on the edge of eternity, where you never age, you never go hungry, you never get physically sick, and you never die. You don’t know what The Chamber is. You don’t know why you, out of all people, were chosen to end up there (were you even chosen?). You simply woke up here one day. Some of you are with your loved ones, and some of you are alone, but at any rate, you’re here forever. Unless, of course, you leave. Right outside of The Chamber is The Void. You can’t be forced into the Void, but you can choose to enter it. And once you do, nothing remains of you but the memory that others carry of you in their hearts and minds. You simply fade to black. You don’t know what The Void is any more than you know what the Chamber is, but you do know that no one ever returns from the Void. Most people assume the Void is simply oblivion. But, if this is true, what would make someone choose The Void? And what happens if someone you love chooses The Void? What if they want to go and you don’t? What happens to love and hate when the only way to truly escape the presence of the Other is to disappear into nothingness?

Fade to Black is a surreal existential exploration of the meaning of life, love, and family. It’s also about living in an environment with very limited privacy. It is a psychological larp with no stats or mechanics aside from those that allow for calibration and consent. There are no hidden plots, and no one is anything other than human.

Players will receive pre-written characters rich with connections and motivations. These will be sent to players ahead of time, but can also be filled by last minute additions at the convention itself. Costuming is comfortable and contemporary.

Who Should Play: Players who want an emotionally charged psychological game. Players who are comfortable with the topics expressed in the content warnings. Players who don’t need answers to all of the questions that will be raised by the game. Players interested in telling a collaborative story without GM interference or guidance.
