"My patience isn't limitless... unlike my authority." - Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn, Ordo XenosThe Holy Inquisition is the most secretive and feared of Imperial organisations. Seeking out threats against the Imperium from within and without, as well as beyond the boundaries of reality, it is the duty of these shadowy agents to do whatever is necessary to protect the masses of Humanity. To most Imperial citizens, the Inquisition is unlimited in power, resources and authority. Few realise that the organisation is fractured with internal politics, heresies and feuds. If there is one thing the Inquisition likes to keep hidden above all else, it is that their agents are not infallible. To be an inquisitor means facing the absolute worst that the galaxy has to offer. Only the most stalwart souls and minds can withstand such corruption, and even then it will eventually take its toll. No inquisitor ever retires. If they do not end up dead, their soul becomes corrupted, their mind torn to pieces by the horrors of the warp. Eventually they become a rogue, a heretic or worse - something to be hunted down by those whom they once served alongside.Inquisitor Raven Black was one such individual. Once one of the Inquisition's greatest heroes, claiming one victory after another against the daemons of the warp and the enemies of mankind, the inquisitor's mind eventually broke. Turning to heresy, sorcery and worse, Raven Black become one of the most dangerous arch-heretics the galaxy had ever known - one who knew every secret of the Imperium, every trick of the Inquisitorial trade. Capturing Raven Black required cooperation between the different factions of the Inquisition on a scale rarely seen before. However, eventually the mission was successful and the former inquisitor turned arch-heretic was apprehended. It is now time to pronounce the final judgement upon Raven Black. Grand High Inquisitor Olivandus has called a conclave - a gathering of the most senior and respected inquisitors in the sector along with their most trusted staff. This is not just an execution, though. Rarely do such gatherings occur and there is sure to be a lot of business, secrets and old feuds to discuss. However, the conclave also serves a darker purpose. Raven Black's heretical influence was extensive, and who knows how many other of the inquisitors, apprentices and acolytes present may also have been corrupted. Only the Inquisition can judge their own. But will this attempt to clean house result in heresy running rampant?
Wylde Deluzion presents a game of diligence, heresy and authority without limits. This is a UK-style freeform game, which means there are no physical game mechanics, and a heavy emphasis on character interaction to achieve goals.
The game is based in Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 setting, focusing on the activities of the Imperial Inquisition. It has been run twice before at Consequences in the UK.It helps to have some basic knowledge of the Warhammer 40,000 setting. If you don't know it, then here are some handy links:
* [Warhammer 40k For Dummies](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wsbbtFGBFPbS7DGWQzrIqv4HMECGUAzHgjaBDsnSY7g/edit?usp=sharing) (Google Docs) A short primer I wrote to introduce people to the basics of the setting.
* [There Is Only War - A Beginner's Guide to Warhammer 40k](https://www.criticalhit.net/tabletop/war-beginners-guide-warhammer-40k/) A primer that somebody else wrote!
* [Timeline of the Warhammer 40,000 Universe](http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_the_Warhammer_40,000_Universe) A much more in-depth look at the background. You really don't need to know all this for the game, but it may be interesting if you want to read more than the basics above.
Please note, this game has a generally dark, intensive and serious tone.Want to do some background reading? Check out the Dark Heresy RPG corebook, which is all about the Imperial Inquisition. Alternatively, pick up 'Eisenhorn', a fantastic novel omnibus by Dan Abnett.
A UK-style freeform game set in Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 setting based around the activities of the Imperial Inquisition. An Inquisitorial conclave has been called to pass judgement on Raven Black, who was once one of the sector’s greatest Inquisitors before falling to heresy and the powers of Chaos. However, this meeting is not just about the trial. From across the sector, inquisitors and their retinues have gathered together to make the most of this rare chance to discuss business and resolve disputes. Yet there is also a darker undertone to this meeting. Heresy runs deep and rampant, and many are wondering just how far Raven Black’s web of corruption has spread throughout the holy Ordos. Are any of the other people here heretics as well…? This is a game of secrets and mysteries, of corruption power and the consequences that come to those who must decide upon the fates of billions of lives. Some basic knowledge of the Warhammer 40,000 setting is recommended but not essential (if you don’t know it, there will be an extra handout with the essential lore). Character sheets are about 6 pages long and contain detailed background, relationships, plots and goals.
Content Warnings: The Warhammer 40,000 setting contains elements of theocratic fanaticism, xenophobia (against actual aliens) and bigotry against less than pure human forms. The game will feature themes of mass genocide of entire planets, murder, execution and torture, but nothing that wouldn’t reasonably be expected to occur in the context of the setting as laid out in the various media. There are no parallels to anything in real life.
Costume (optional): Warhammer 40k-themed props such as purity seals and aquila welcome.
