Governed by mysterious cosmic forces, the world of TEN THOUSAND THINGS unfolds in balance and harmony. Seasons pass, lands flourish, life breeds and feeds and all is good. Then – players enter the game.

Each session starts with one player taking on the role of Sovereign (game master) while others become Emperors (heroic characters) of various Species currently roaming the planet. And while they share the same board, they have few in common. Sovereign –sitting in her ivory tower in the sky– narrates the game by shaping the landscape, hiding rare artefact in secret places and dealing out objectives for heroes to fulfil. Emperors, on the other hand, are always on the move, traversing continents and telling their story by collecting suits of cards of various power and effect.

Inspired by teachings of Taoism and the practice of I Ching, divination tool of great wisdom and antiquity, TEN THOUSAND THINGS simulates the birth and growth of the Universe through a semi-automated set of rules. Here, player is a disruption, a violator of natural peace and harmony. By consuming resources in pursuit of his selfish goals he only furthers Earth’s downfall. Is there no other way?
