Beschreibung

This is the first time a team of digital archaeologists have been allowed to explore the online multiplayer game Limerence since it was shut down at the end of 2032. Once searingly popular, the fantasy kingdom now stands empty, rotting at the seams. What caused Limerence to be taken offline so abruptly? Was it the obsessive fans regularly playing for 24 hours straight that scared the developers? Or were the rumours of a secret room in the castle worse than true?

Ruin The Game is a sci-fi keepsake larp. Play is split between characters encountering archaeological remains and artefacts in the game world of Limerence, and then gathering as an expedition team to discuss their findings. As part of gameplay, they will record and interpret what they find in a provided field diary that they can take away as a keepsake , itself acting as a meta archaeological record of the larp experience.

Tone: mystery, suspense

Physical Contact: limited
Romance and intimacy: potential character romance but this is more narrative than intimacy-driven

Conflict and violence: interpersonal workplace conflict

Communication style: mostly talking but with potential for raised voices

Movement style: standing and sitting (can be easily adapted to sitting only)

Characters: pre-written but with potential to be adapted during the workshop

Narrative control: the main narrative beats are pre-written, but otherwise players are free to drive their character arcs and interpretation of the setting

Transparency: some details of the setting will be randomly generated on the fly by the larp runner, and certain plot details will only be revealed through progression of the larp

Play culture: collaborative, though characters will have differing agendas and this will lead to some interpersonal conflict

Requests for participants: participants can bring a non-fragile object that they are happy to be included as an artefact to be interpreted in the larp, but this is not required
