A LARP about Fate and Power in an Eternal Empire.

1815. For more than two thousand years, the Roman Empire has ruled over a quarter of the world's population. Its legions impose the Pax Romana in all the submitted provinces. Its laws are respected from the Polar Circle to the deserts of Africa and from the Panjshir valley to the Atlantic Ocean (and even beyond). Emperors unquestionably reign over prosperous territories where millions of roman citizens coexist. Under the gaze of the Gods of Rome, science and philosophy have brought power, wealth, culture and knowledge to the Imperium Romanorum. But order, peace and prosperity are threatened from within. Are you ready to face your Fate?

This Larp is based on a Roman uchronic universe, in a decadent and corrupt imperial court in which participants will meet their fate. From major political decisions to the most mundane ones, they will be confronted to the will of the gods, bound to the augurs of their birth. A Larp on free will and the inexorability of fate. This is not a Larp about factions and combat. It is a Larp about conspiracy and drama.

Participants are not expected to attempt to rewrite history (you will effectively embody characters in an early nineteenth century Roman empire, good luck with that!), but to live through tragic times and witness the possible downfall of a multi millennial Empire. Si Qua Fata Sinant is a narrativist Larp tinged with Romanesque French tradition and Nordic influence. A Larp of alcoves, plots, oracles, and daggers in the dark. Will you take part in the fall of the mightiest Empire that ever was or try to save it, even if it means losing everything, including yourself? Will you be ready to leave your fate in the hands of the gods?

The setting is freely and lightly inspired by the uchronic universe created by Robert Silverberg in his sci-fi fixup novel Roma Æterna. A universe in which the Exodus never took place, where Christianity never emerged, where the New World was discovered by Northmen in the name of Rome, and more particularly, a universe where the Roman Empire survived the Migration Period, to establish its unchallenged authority from the Atlantic to the Indus, from the Spitzberg to the Sahara.

Ce Grandeur nature est basé sur un univers uchronique romain, dans une cour impériale décadente et corrompue dont les acteur·trice·s vont rencontrer leur destin. Des décisions politiques majeures aux choix les plus banals, iels seront confronté·e·s à la volonté des dieux et déesses, lié·e·s aux augures de leur naissance. Un Grandeur nature sur le libre arbitre et l’inexorabilité du destin. Ceci n’est pas un Grandeur nature de factions et de combats, mais un Grandeur nature de complots et de drames.

Il n’est pas attendu des participant·e·s qu’iels tentent de réécrire l’histoire (vous incarnerez effectivement des personnages dans un empire romain du début du 19e siècle, bonne chance avec ça !), mais qu’iels vivent des moments tragiques et assistent activement ou passivement à la chute d’un empire multimillénaire. Si Qua Fata Sinant est un Grandeur nature narrativiste teinté de tradition romanesque française et d’influence nordique. Un Grandeur nature d’alcôves, de complots, d’oracles et de poignards dans l’obscurité. Allez-vous concourir à la chute du plus puissant empire qui n’ait jamais existé ou tenter de le sauver, quitte à tout perdre, y compris vous-même ? Serez-vous prêt·e à laisser votre destin entre les mains des dieux ?

Le cadre du GN est librement et légèrement inspiré de l’univers uchronique créé par Robert Silverberg dans son roman de science-fiction Roma Æterna. Un univers dans lequel l’Exode n’a jamais eu lieu, où le christianisme n’a jamais émergé, où les Amériques ont été découvertes par des hommes du Nord au nom de Rome, et plus particulièrement, un univers où l’Empire romain a survécu à la période des Grandes Migrations pour établir son autorité incontestée de l’Atlantique à l’Indus, et du Spitzberg aux confins du Sahara.
