_Are you worried? That is natural. Tomorrow, you become an adult. Well, I guess it is a bit more complicated for you. Tomorrow, you reenact the great myths and become an Incarnation of the Gods. Tomorrow, you grow the seeds of the great Network Trees within you, and become a Grove Tender. Tomorrow, you craft your greatest work shaping your own essence, and becoming Soulforged. Tomorrow, you become more than the rest of us._
Your world is stable and prosperous. True there are the continued ideological clashes between the Divine Lands and the Grove, and land disputes between the Diamond Golems and southern Grove villages, and of course the unnetworked areas of the jungle remain quite dangerous. But these are minor matters.
Prosperity has allowed the three great nations to turn their attention to matters of more personal development. Each has discovered their own way to powers greater than what a mortal would normally be able to keep.
Now, three groups are set to gain these powers. You are part of one of these groups. You don’t know the other two. But it does not matter; their path is not yours (or at least it shouldn’t be). Only one test remains, and you can see your bright future ahead of you. Can’t you?
Syncretism is a cyber/epic fantasy game that draws inspiration from various African cultures and mythologies. It is about what we value and what we are willing to give up for it. It deals with themes of individuality, nationalism, investigating your own beliefs, and your place in the world, the price of power, and what it means to be human.
You will play young adults (mostly) on a quest to gain great power (reasons for wanting this power depend on the character). These quests will involve some amount of fighting, some cleverness, and some sacrifice (after all you can’t expect to gain without first giving up). Players will be from one of three different cultural groups who do not know each other at the start of game.
This is a boffer LARP(though, you should expect to spend more time roleplaying than fighting). We will provide weapons for all players. This game uses a new boffer system, and we will teach the system and have a short practice before we get to the content of the game. Content warnings: xenophobia and racism (towards fantasy races and nations), religious zealotry, self-harm, violence, and emotionally intense scenes that may include yelling, threatening, etc. Age Restriction: 18+
