_There's smoke on the water it's been there since June Tree trunks uprooted beneath the high crescent moon Feel the pulse and vibration and the rumbling force Somebody is out there beating on a dead horse She never said nothing there was nothing she wrote She gone with the man in the long black coat._
In a small town the inhabitants are troubled by omens and storms, apocalyptic warnings and strange weather. Could these events be related to the appearance of a stranger in a long black coat? Is he a force of Good or Evil? Of vengeance or of redemption? And what was it about her, or about the stranger, that caused her to leave with him?
This scenario is inspired by the song _Man in the Long Black Coat_ by Bob Dylan. It asks players to create the surrounding environment and narrative to accompany the song, a variant of the 'Daemon Lover' motif. It takes the players to a God-fearing, claustrophobic community, full of secrets. Through exploring different characters and locations in town the haunting presence of the man in the long black coat begins to threaten the uneasy equilibrium. Focus is placed on depicting the apocalyptic mood, portentous dialogues and undertones of fear and seduction. Players will decide if the Man is ultimately sent to wreak vengeance for their sins or to offer them the hope of redemption. The scenario is scene-based and influenced by jeep format and classic Swedish freeform.
