Description

Can a divided noble family save Britain from Merlin’s dark prophecy of a new Saxon invasion? Or will they only make it worse?

King Arthur is dead, and beyond the sea, a new Saxon invasion threatens. The surviving Britons might be able to resist if they ally with the British Saxons, descendants of the brutal invasion that Arthur defeated. Or they might seek help from the cruel elves of the Hollow Hills, who can stand neither sun nor iron, but who possess mighty sorcery.

You’ll play House Arwyr, four people who love each other and who fight to avoid Merlin’s terrible prophecy about the fate of the Britons when the Saxons invade again, but who disagree profoundly about the way forward. And though you all fight passionately for what you believe, deep down you’re also in doubt.

Most of the time you’ll be playing without mechanics, and then the course is set for Merlin’s gloomy predictions. But you have access to a dice mechanic with which you can run a risk and pay a price to force outcomes that defy the prophecy. However you’re not necessarily pulling in the same direction, and from this, bloody drama grows forth. You’re a house divided, not a party.

De overlevende briter kan måske stå imod, hvis de allierer sig med de britiske saxere, efterkommerne af den brutale invasion som Arthur undertvang. Eller de kan søge hjælp hos de grusomme elverfolk i de hule høje, som ikke tåler hverken sol eller jern, men som besidder mægtig trolddom.

I spiller Huset Arwyr, fire mennesker som elsker hinanden og som kæmper for at undgå Merlins frygtelige profeti om briternes skæbne når saxerne kommer igen, men er vildt uenige om vejen frem. Og selv om I alle kæmper lidenskabeligt for hvad I tror på, er I dybt nede også i tvivl.

Det meste af tiden spiller I systemløst, og så er kursen lagt mod Merlins dystre forudsigelser. Men I har adgang til en terning-mekanik, hvor I mod at løbe en risiko og betale en pris kan fremtvinge udfald, der trodser profetien. I trækker dog ikke nødvendigvis i samme retning, og deraf vokser et blodigt drama frem. I er en splittet familie, ikke et party.
