This war’s gone on for too damn long. I was 15 when it started, back in ‘61, lied about my age so I could fight and stick it to the Union. I’m 31 now, and it’s still goin’. I fought at Gettysburg, and I saw the dead rise up and walk. Seems so long ago now, but it damn sure happened. Hard to believe the war could keep on going, but hell - that’s politics.
Now I’ve had enough. Half my life I’ve lost, and I just wanna go home. Course, they’ll try and stop me, reckon they might even put a bounty on my head. Heh - they can damn well try.
