Description

RULE DOCUMENT FOR CHEAT STREETS

A board game for 3 – 6 players.

WHAT DO YOU NEED:
– The board and avatars for all players
– One “high roller” die that can only roll the numbers 3 – 5.
– A deck of twelve goal cards.
– Markers to keep track of points and punishments

THE STRUCTURE OF PLAYING:

THE GOAL OF THE GAME:

The goal of the game is to reach 21 points. You get five points for calling out a player (described in “Calling out”), and four points for scoring (described in “Playing a turn”).

SETTING UP:

All players gets an avatar and places it in the middle of the board on the “Start”-tile. You shuffle the deck of goal cards and deal one out face down to each player. Players may look at their own goal cards. Players decide who starts by rolling dice, and then take turns in clockwise order.

PLAYING A TURN:

If you’re starting a turn with a “punishment” marker, remove it and skip the turn.

Each turn has two phases: The “Call out phase” and the “Movement phase”.

– THE CALL OUT PHASE

The players, in clockwise order from the active player, chooses whether or not to call the active player out. If no one does, move on to the movement phase. If they do, move on to “Calling out”. You may not call out a player moving from the “Start”-tile. You may not call out another player if you currently have a “punishment” marker.

– THE MOVEMENT PHASE

The active player rolls the die, then moves the amount of spaces the die says. If they pass through or land on a goal tile, they may reveal their goal card. If the card matches the tile, they get four points. If you score you may not continue moving that turn. Then they draw a new card and shuffles their old one into the deck.

CALLING OUT:

A player may choose to call out another player. If they do, they will guess what goal card the called out player is holding. If they guess correctly, the caller gets five points, and then the active player draws a new goal card, then shuffles their old card into the deck. Then they move back to the “Start”-tile and continues with their movement phase. If the caller guesses wrong, the caller gets a “punishment” marker and the active player moves on to the movement phase. The active player only has to say if they’re wrong, they do not have to show their card. Cheating is prohibited. Only one player per turn may call out during the call out phase.

BUS STOPS:

Some tiles on the board are bus stops. If you pass through or land on a bus stop, you may choose to use it to move your character to the matching bus stop on the opposite side of the board. You may not move any more after using a bus stop.

WINNING THE GAME:

When a player reaches 21 points, they win the game.
