Osinda was running through the burning village, running over the bodies of her fellow tribal members, running from a menace which could not be seen. It could not be seen, because hunger does not wear uniforms, because darkness belongs to no government, because death pays attention to no conventions of warfare. Of course, neither did they. Osinda had to find her mother, not for her own sake, but her baby brother was hungry and he could not yet feed on his own. He could not eat when they finally found her in a caved in hut in the centre of the village, not because she was dead, no not yet, but because they had sliced of her breasts… A woman in her prime age, young, able to give birth and feed many children. Moments later, she drew her last breath, and soon so would Osinda… And her baby brother with her.
