Employee of the Month RPG

RPG system: Shift Happens System

By

OrganizerFiona Howat

Description

A game about rubbish jobs, coworkers, the apocalypse, aliens and you know … Mondays!

Employee of the Month is a role-playing game wherein players work dead-end jobs, doing mundane tasks and dealing with difficult customers until they are suddenly hurled into a possibly dangerous and most likely hilarious situation. It might be an alien invasion, the apocalypse starting in your office car park, or worse!

Together with the General Manager (GM), players will create and play out a narrative, working together to survive their story with whatever skills they possess, whatever skills are available, and whatever assumptions they hold about one another!

Touchstones/Watchlist for the game's tone/feel

The Office
Clerks
Superstore
Parks and Recreation
Brooklynn Nine-Nine
Hot Fuzz
Shaun of the Dead

What you will need

The General Manager (GM) will bring everything you will need to play but feel free to bring pens, pencils, a bunch of d6s, a good sense of humor, and a willingness to roleplay! There will be a safety briefing and an accommodation check in before the start of the game.

About the system

EotM uses the Shift Happens System, an intuitive and straightforward game engine where the game happens in multiple “shifts”, giving players chances to earn bonuses before shift really hits the fan. Find out more and get your own copy on DriveThru RPG.

About the GM

Fiona K.T. Howat is a London-based voice-over artist, improviser, and gamemaster who decided people need to try out more RPG systems and play more games. So, she decided to start up a podcast based on it - What Am I Rolling?: A Twice Monthly RPG oneshot podcast!

She also co-hosts The DM’s Book Club, a weekly podcast about reading about some Dungeons and Dragons and discuss how it might be included in role-playing campaigns!

You can find out more about Fiona's other projects here.
