Description

This is a gritty, low fantasy, 'historical', game set in Britain around about 600AD. This is almost 200 years after the Roman legions withdrew and at least 200 years before the 'Age of Vikings'. However ‘Last Kingdom’ and ‘Vikings’, provide reasonable touchstones for the look and feel of the setting. The supernatural world is very real to people, whether they see it through the Christian lens of most of the indigenous Celtic peoples (who we call British, in the game) or through the pagan gods of the Anglo-Saxon rulers of much of South and East Britain (Woden, Thunir, Frig, Tir and the rest of the gang that will, one day, fuel a Marvel franchise). Meanwhile, some Britons cling to the Old Gods of their pre-Roman religion. Players take the role of Heroes given gifts by their (often fickle and jealous) god(s) with which to protect mortals. We will begin by creating the settlement around which this one-shot will revolve and then play to find out why the Heroes have been drawn there and what 'evil' stalks the locals.
