Description

"'Tis No Deceit to Deceive the Deceiver" is an opera in one larp.

This game will be melodramatic. Literally.

From the stately mansions of the elite, to the slums where the poor lie coughing in the gutter, from the rum-soaked pirate ships docked in the harbor to the chamber of the Gentlemen of His Majesty's Privy Council, all of London is in song.

Some of these people have decided to take a voyage from England to America to visit the World's Fair in New York City. This is their story, set to music.

The strains of tragedy will strive with brilliant love arias for four hours of passion, betrayal, and overwrought operatic unfulfilled desire in a world of deceit and fragile love.

You must enjoy singing in public in order to play this game. There will be roles that require less \*tuneful\* singing than other roles, but every character will sing.

Songs will be provided one month before the game.

This game takes the concept of the singing episode Once More With Feeling from Buffy and applies it to a Victorian Steampunk setting, where people feel compelled to sing their secrets. Most of the characters are not trained singers, so the players certainly do not need to be. You just need to be able enjoy singing in public. Everyone sings.

Songs will be provided before game, which players can either memorize or use a cheat sheet. There is an opening and closing song, which everyone gets. Otherwise, characters will have on average 3-5 other songs that should be sung when cues indicate or possibly when the timing feels right. A music faq will be provided to explain in greater detail.

Secrets will be revealed and some goals may not be possible. Please enjoy the journey and music along the way.

This game can be replayed. We will try to cast you in a different part of the game.
