Dancing Across the Universe

(AKA: Generation Starship)

RPG system: Songlines
Genre: Drama, Novellescenarie, Sci-Fi
Participants: 5-7 players

By

Description

The universe lies before you on the floor, in the air, in the mysterious bodies of your dancers, in your mind. From this voyage no one returns poor or weary.

–Agnes de Mille (American dancer and choreographer, 1905-1993)

As Earth came crashing down, the planet cast an ark into the deep dark infinite void of space. Hope rested on multiple generations of families that, one day, hundreds or maybe thousands of years from now, they would discover a new home suitable for humanity to grow again. Unknown challenges await, and mankind’s ultimate destiny rests in the hands of our children, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

This scenario is an experimental freeform-inspired role-playing game based on the new Songlines system. It combines aspects of GM-less larping, dice rolling, and crafting through pre-written scenes selected by a randomized musical playlist. This will be a condensed version of the full adventure yet still features fast-paced thrills, dramatic debates, poignant introspection and philosophical inquiry, all scored to music.
